Our Research-Driven Investment Process
TIM’s time-tested investment process combines focused, research-driven analysis with decisive action.
Looking for the Opportunity in Change
At TIM, we seek companies positioned to benefit from positive change. Such change may be secular, driven by broad economic, demographic or cultural forces, or fundamental, reflecting company-specific decisions and developments. This focus on positive change:
• Helps us invest before the market recognizes how change will benefit some businesses and undermine others.
• Continually provides new ideas for investment, at all stages of the market and economic cycles.
Acting with the Courage of Our Convictions
We apply our belief in the power of positive change to identify and select superior investment opportunities in three broad disciplines: growth equities, value equities and fixed-income securities. While the focus of our fundamental research varies by discipline, our approach to portfolio construction is consistent across all. Once research and our peer-review process identify superior investment opportunities, our investment teams act with conviction to maximize the potential for alpha.
Toward that end, we build relatively concentrated portfolios. In addition, once we commit to a security, we are patient, long-term investors, maintaining our position in the face of volatility as long as our investment thesis remains valid. Yet we are also disciplined sellers who regularly re-evaluate our investment theses and will not hesitate to divest a security whose long-term outlook becomes inferior.
